Higher multiple births

Twin–Twin Transfusion Syndrome in higher multiple births

Triplets and higher multiple births constitute 1–6% of multiple births.5,6 TTTS may be noted in pregnancies carrying three or more fetuses.34 Triplet pregnancy may be trichorionic (40%), dichorionic (47%), or monochorionic (13%).

With monochorionic triplets, either two or all three fetuses may be affected with TTTS.36–39 Chasen et al40 studied TTTS in a cohort of 151 triplets. Only three pregnancies identified with severe antenatal features of TTTS, including ‘stuck twin’, were noted, resulting in an incidence of 2% in all triplets.
